really awesome! but what is encaustic?
Its wax. Beeswax. You have to melt it to 100 degrees celcius and mix with pigment or oilcolor.
Its hot to work with but cool ;)
ah cool... and then, after cooling/drying, you have these little points? I knew it only with watercolour
After drying the wax layer I paint with oil or add collage or gold etc
I really like this. It's almost like those door pictures/paintings that are everywhere, but with more character. How large is it?

These are not so large. Only 25x25 cm, but I am currently working with scaling up :).
It take some training in working with hot wax ;).

I appriciate the technique used here, but don't quite get what the picture is.

Is it a door, a window, a gate to hell? I can't tell... could you give me a hand maybe?
